Biography
Analyst who in the 1950s worked at the Battelle Memorial Institute on Project Blue Book's Special Report No. 14, the largest statistical study of sightings ever conducted by the U.S. Air Force. A collaborator of J. Allen Hynek and the Center for UFO Studies (CUFOS). She authored the canonical investigation of the Army helicopter encounter over Mansfield, Ohio (Coyne case, 1973): a monograph that reconstructed the crew's and ground witnesses' testimony and ruled out conventional explanations.

Project Blue Book Special Report No. 14 is the statistical study the Battelle Memorial Institute carried out under USAF contract between 1952 and 1955, covering some 3,200 sighting reports. It left about 22% of cases as 'unknown', with a higher rate among the best-quality reports. It is the broadest quantitative base of its era on the reports the Air Force received; it measures how those reports were classified, not what the objects were, and a share of unknowns is not proof of an anomaly.
