El 13 de noviembre de 2010, durante el show aéreo conmemorando el centenario de la Fuerza Aérea de Chile (FACh) en la Base Aérea El Bosque (Santiago), cientos de civiles y personal militar observaron un objeto discoidal moviéndose entre las formaciones acrobáticas que estaban demostrando. El objeto fue registrado en múltiples cámaras de video y fotografías por espectadores y por equipos de prensa.
El General José Huber, comandante operacional de la FACh, ordenó al Comité de Estudios de Fenómenos Aéreos Anómalos (CEFAA) — organismo oficial dependiente de la Dirección General de Aeronáutica Civil (DGAC) — investigar el evento. CEFAA recopiló más de 20 videos independientes filmados desde diferentes ángulos durante el show.
El análisis técnico CEFAA, presentado por su director Ricardo Bermúdez en 2012, calculó velocidad de movimiento del objeto entre las formaciones: aproximadamente Mach 3 (3,700 km/h) basado en correlación fotogramétrica de los videos sincronizados. Esta velocidad es incompatible con cualquier aeronave tripulada operacional en 2010 — los formaciones acrobáticas FACh estaban a aproximadamente Mach 0.7. CEFAA clasificó oficialmente al evento como 'anómalo' — la designación más alta del esquema metodológico institucional chileno.
On November 13, 2010, during the air show commemorating the centenary of the Chilean Air Force (FACh) at El Bosque Air Base (Santiago), hundreds of civilians and military personnel observed a disc-shaped object moving between the aerobatic formations performing the demonstration. The object was captured by multiple video cameras and photographs from spectators and press teams.
General José Huber, operational commander of the FACh, ordered the Comité de Estudios de Fenómenos Aéreos Anómalos (CEFAA) — the official body under the Dirección General de Aeronáutica Civil (DGAC) — to investigate. CEFAA gathered more than 20 independent videos filmed from different angles during the show.
The CEFAA technical analysis, presented by its director Ricardo Bermúdez in 2012, calculated the object's speed between the formations at roughly Mach 3 (3,700 km/h), based on photogrammetric correlation across the synchronized videos. This speed is incompatible with any manned aircraft in service in 2010 — the FACh aerobatic formations were flying at approximately Mach 0.7. CEFAA officially classified the event as 'anomalous' — the highest designation in Chile's institutional methodological scheme.
