Biography

He stepped out of his house at night because of his dog's barking and made out, six or seven meters away, a dark mass resting on the railway tracks with two small figures moving beside it; when he tried to approach, a green beam left him momentarily paralyzed, unable to move or shout. His report opened one of the first Gendarmerie Nationale files with a physical-trace examination — the institutional lineage that, decades later, would lead to GEPAN. The episode occurred right at the start of the great French wave of 1954.
