Charlie Foltz
Art student · one of the four friends who in 1976 set out on the canoe trip through the Allagash Wilderness, Maine
Biography
He was camping with the Weiner twins and Chuck Rak at Eagle Lake when the group said they saw the luminous object; he came out of the regression hypnosis sessions with an onboard-examination account matching the Weiner brothers' in its essentials. He is one of the three who sustained their version after Rak, the fourth member of the group, admitted in 2016 to having invented the abduction part. That fracture does not prove Foltz is lying —sincere hypnotic confabulation is compatible with his conviction— but it does remove the piece that made the case exceptional: it is no longer a concordant fourfold testimony, but three sustained accounts and one denied by its own author.
