Biography

He came back from the canoe trip with recurring nightmares and health problems he could not explain, and it was that later distress —not a conscious memory of abduction— that led the group to seek professional help and, from there, to the fifteen hypnosis sessions over fourteen months that produced the detailed account. Under hypnosis he described, separately from his companions, being lifted by a beam of light and examined on a table by large-headed beings. He is, along with his identical twin, the central figure in the case: the lead investigator verified backgrounds, medical records, and journals before accepting the sequence, in a final ten-volume report.

The Allagash Abductions· 1976

In August 1976, four art students —twins Jack and Jim Weiner, Charlie Foltz and Chuck Rak— were camping at Eagle Lake, in Maine's Allagash wilderness. They reported a large luminous sphere, a beam of light and a missing-time episode; years later, under fifteen hypnosis sessions, the four separately described an abduction and an examination. The case became an abduction classic — until in 2016 one of them, Chuck Rak, admitted the abduction part was made up.
