Biography

He climbed Phoenix Mountain believing he was investigating a downed helicopter and afterward described being struck and, that same night, having an intimate encounter with a tall female figure. The case is exceptional for its provenance: 1990s Chinese ufology operated in a circuit almost disconnected from the Western one, so the account is not easily explained as a copy of the American template, and yet it reproduces several of its elements. He was examined by Chinese researchers and given a polygraph. The skin marks he displayed admit mundane explanations, and no instrumental verification supports the core of the account.

In June 1994, lumberjack Meng Zhaoguo, of the Red Flag camp in Wuchang (Heilongjiang, China), saw a metallic shine on Mount Phoenix and went to investigate what he thought was a downed helicopter; he said he was struck and, that night, had an intimate encounter with a very tall woman. It is China's most famous contact case, examined by local UFO societies.
